2007-2008 Riverdale
Student Directory

This year, the directories were emailed to our parents. By sending them electronically the PTSA saved $1000 on printing costs. If you did not receive one, please contact Katherine St. Clair and she will be happy to send you a copy. Thanks!
Teacher Wish Lists
**Updated as of 2/08**
Last year we posted our teachers wish lists and the response was overwhelming! This year, with your help, we would like to grant some more wishes!
Please take a moment to look over the grade level wish lists and see if you can grant a wish. Simply purchase the item and send it to your child's teacher. Your generosity is greatly appreciated!

Dear Parents,
Happy New Year!!  I know that one of our New Year's Resolutions is to be a better parent.  I recently bumped into a pretty incredible website called LOVE and LOGIC.  The founder of the company, Jim Faye, started as a classroom teacher and years later started seeing common threads concerning "good behavior" and "not so good behavior" and started trying to share this message about how to mold the child without breaking the spirit.

His message is very common sense and very worthwhile.  He has books and videos to sell, of course, but I enjoyed his articles that are so valuable to teachers and parents alike.  Some of the titles you can access for free are:

~ Making the internet safer for your kids.
~ Childhood swearing
~ Tight financial times can bring families together
~ Guidelines for helping with homework
~ "Teaseproof" your kids
~ One-liners
~ When it's time for them to get a life
~ Guidelines for sharing control through choices
~ Spanking
~ The delayed or "anticipatory" consequence
~ The love and logic generic consequence
~ Angry kids
~ Guiding children to solve their own problems
~ Schoolwork
~ Thirteen steps towards less violence
~ Using enforceable statements
~ Make your kids responsible for their actions
~ Helping aggressive toddlers and preschoolers get started before it's
        too late!
~ You can save your child's life

These are just a few of his articles you can read at this website.  If you have a newer computer, you may be able to watch some video clips and hear some audio pieces too.
